Rebuilding Together Information and Facts
-Rebuilding Together New Orleans is a program of the Preservation Resource Center and has been revitalizing homes and communities in New Orleans for 20 years. Rebuilding Together New Orleans rebuilds the homes of low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in Orleans parish.
-By reinvesting in and restoring the housing stock of New Orleans, they bring homeowners displaced by Hurricane Katrina back to their former homes. This serves as a model for restoringand preserving New Orleans' historic neighborhoods.
-Since 1988, Rebuilding Together New Orleans has assisted over 1,000 families and restored 7 schools, 6 community centers, 1 courthouse and 2 transitional houses.
-More than 5,000 volunteers from around the country have contributed over 180,000 labor hours (worth nearly $2.7 million in market value) to the Katrina recovery projects.
